Hello again my readers! How is everyone doing?

Usually, when it come's to Featured Author, we're expecting to meet a new up-and-coming author. This time, however, we're welcoming back a friendly face. Say hello to our featured author from June 2017, Skye!

For those who don't know, Skye is an incredible author who has dabbled in not only science fiction, but in mystery and fantasy as well.

Since our interview last year, Skye has posted two more novels. One being her mystery, Dark Disney, and her second being Escaping Alaycia. Both are available on Wattpad now along with her utterly intriguing science fiction thriller, The Rain.

If you would like to get to know Skye a little better before our second (actually third) interview!, click on the links listed below:

SS: First off, welcome back to featured author! It’s been awhile since we’ve seen you around. How have you been?

SKYE: Hey there! It’s pretty amazing to be back actually! It feels like forever! I’be been very well thank you for asking, but very busy as of late. I can understand now why a lot of authors have sporadic update schedules. Lack of motivation, dance, exams, theater, and general life, can make it really hard to write anything of substance, let alone anything at all. But, now that summer’s started, hopefully I can get some more chapters up.

SS: Let’s get things going with something fun (something I usually don’t ask our regular featured authors) tell us five fun facts about yourself!

SKYE: Hmmmm...Five facts you say? That is pretty fun indeed, but it’s really hard to think of some on the spot *scratches imaginary beard in contemplation*. Well, I’ll give it a shot!

- I dyed my hair blue for about a month because of a lyric in a song

- I have only ever had about four real crushes in my entire life

- Once I visited an abandoned grocery store

- I actually like school sometimes, unlike many of my peers

- I am super self conscious about my ugly feet. I’m a dancer so I have just calloused feet and cracked nails and all that fun stuff! So I hate showing them off in public

SS: What kinds of writing have you been up to as of late? Have you started any new projects since we last had an interview?

SKYE: At the moment, I’m working on my most popular book to date. It’s a fantasy and It’s been a real roller coaster writing it. At the moment I’m in a bit of a funk, but it’s still a story that I am very passionate about. I’m also working on a little something on the side but I can’t say too much about it! It’s a surprise!!

SS: What’s the favorite book you’ve written so far and why? Would you recommend it to our featured author readers?

SKYE: Right now? Probably ‘Escaping Alaycia’, it’s the fantasy novel I talked about earlier. I feel that the writing in it is far superior to anything I’ve previously done. There are a lot of little things that aren’t great about it of course, but I love it all the more for it’s flaws. Plus, the characters are really precious to me, they mean a lot to me and in my life. Lottie and Mia are the people I want to become or who I am at the moment. Rynn and Theo are a different way of how I see the world. There are some very comedic scenes in it that on the surface just seem like basic comedic writing, but actually mean a lot more than that. I’ve moved between two countries all my life so feeling like a fish out of water is something that I’m really used to. So, when Rynn and Theo are in the human world being all insanely ridiculous, it’s pretty much an exaggeration of how I feel sometimes having moved so much.

SS: Which of your characters do you feel you most relate to and why?

SKYE: I probably relate the most to Scarlet from ‘How deep is the ocean’, now this book is as old as my Wattpad account and I unpublished it awhile ago. But, it was the first thing I wrote, and it was very real in terms of the characters. They were all based on people I knew or myself. Scarlet, the main character, was pretty much a projection of how I saw myself in a couple years. She was clumsy, awkward, sarcastic, and all together a pretty accurate representation of how I am as a person. For some of my readers who never got to read her story, don’t worry too much, because I have a couple tricks up my sleeve!

SS: Most authors tend to go through a change in their writing process during the course of their ‘wattpad career’. Have you taken any breaks from Wattpad or changed your writing process in any way?

SKYE: To be honest, I’ve never really taken a real or proper break from Wattpad. I’ve never stopped. But you can definitely see an evolution in my writing in the past couple years. I’ve learned so much about character development, chapter length, descriptions, and story, since I started. Of course I still have so much more to learn, but I can confidently say at the moment that I have improved and I am on the right track for sure.

SS: What’s the strangest thing you’ve had to research for a book you’ve written?

SKYE: Jesus where do I even start! For ‘Escaping Alaycia’ I must say that my search history has become very very weird indeed. I’ve searched up elf names, and dwarf names, and old folklore I could play off of for world building. Pretty much anything wacky and fantasy related is in my search engine right now!

SS: Are you reading any books at the moment? Which would you recommend to our readers?

SKYE: I’ve just finished one actually and it’s called ‘Silently Falling’ and I really really enjoyed that. But, I’ve been reading a lot of books by @PsychXticHemmings and I absolutely love all of them. I’ve also had the pleasure of chatting with her and she is really really lovely! I love all her books and I recommend every single one of them!! I think she’s an amazing author and person!! Definitely check her out!! I also love my friend @cassiopeiadragon so much and she is insanely talented and deserves ALL THE WATTPAD FAME!!

SS: Do you have any new projects coming up soon (new books, a YouTube channel, ect.)?

SKYE: I’d honestly love to get a YouTube channel or something, but that’s not really in the cards for me at the moment. I’m working on Escaping Alaycia of course, but there may or may not be a few little surprises coming out this summer!

SS: Lastly - do you have any writing wisdom you would so graciously like to bestow upon us?

SKYE: Since you asked so nicely I’ll ‘bestow’ some wonderful advice. My advice is: if you need a break, then take it. If you’re feeling out of it, or just not in the mood, to write, then don’t. You’re not going to like what to write, and it’s not going to be of any substance whatsoever because you’re not going to enjoy writing it. So take a break sometimes, step back and observe your story from a distance, and form an opinion on where you want it to go.

I hope everyone enjoyed catching up with Skye! She's been one of my go-to's to everything since early last year, and it was more than amazing to catch-up with her in a more 'public interview fashion! I wish you the best of luck, and I think I speak for everyone reading - lets do this again soon! :D
