Writer's everywhere can admit one thing: when you've got an idea running around in your head, you've got to write it down - and quickly. If you don't catch that fleeting moment of inspiration, even the best minds can lose track of that great idea.

Out of the many tips and tricks that I will share on this blog, one of my go-to's is my writer's journal. Having that notebook (or if you're on the go, your phone) by your side to write down your thoughts or weird excerpts that you come to mind throughout the day, it can really help you clear your head; but it can also help you piece together that ongoing work you've got saved on your computer.

Before I really got into writing (namely during my fanfiction days) I would simply sit down, and write. I had no problem whatsoever with drawing inspiration when need be. I can remember those many hours spent just sitting on the couch and working out more than four thousand words a day (I'm estimating, of course). Though as the years have gone by, my inspiration has dwindled along with my every growing schedule and responsibilities.

My 'writer's journal' has helped bring back my inspiration when I've really needed it. If you're like me, you write on your phone or laptop, and after a while, that digital screen just isn't the same as putting pen to paper.

Here's a little insight into what my writer's journal looks like.

Something as simple as writing down a plan for each chapter, second by second, can be a world of help in those times when you don't know where to go next. Anytime I get stuck, I pull out my notebook and write down whatever pops into my head. Seeing my plans for future chapters written down has helped me get by when I've got an update coming up, and I hope you all can find help in this little trick as well.

Drop a comment below if you too keep a writer's journal, or find me on one of my social media profiles, and tell me what else you'd like to see me write about!
